Beyond the Ordinary: Creative Residential Metal Applications

You may know metal roofing as an excellent option for its enduring good looks, durability and sustainability. Have you also considered using metal wall cladding when designing a home? Here
are some examples of truly creative residential metal.

Architectural metal wall panel systems are often used in commercial and retail applications, however, they can also be a unique alternative to traditional siding. Metal wall panels stand up to harsh climates, retain beautiful bright colour for decades, and add to the sustainability of a home, often contributing to LEED certification.

Deignan Residence, Pennsylvania

This rural Pennsylvania home combines traditional with contemporary. Clad with locally quarried stone and ipe wood siding, the exterior also features a PAC-CLAD Snap-Clad standing seam metal roof in Weathered Zinc and PAC-CLAD Precision Series cupped tiles in a Bright Annealed finish. Homeowner Tom Deignan, also president of Carrollton Design Build, saw the tiles at a regional building show and immediately said, “Wow, I want to use this on my residence!”. Find out more about this unique home here.

Woodland Dune Residence, Michigan

This Modernist home is nestled on a Lake Michigan sand dune and surrounded by forest. Designer Scott Rappe, principal at Kuklinski+Rappe Architects, Chicago, chose PAC-CLAD Reveal panels in Slate Gray, installed horizontally to reinforce the sharp, clean lines of the structure. Rappe explained, “Metal is a wonderful material and lends itself very nicely to residential use…And from a durability and economy standpoint, the PAC-CLAD panels are a fantastic material.” Learn more about this project here.

Matchbox House, Michigan

The 4-bedroom Matchbox House, a mere 1,740 square feet of living space, combines dramatic, high-end design with cost-effective, sustainable solutions. PAC-CLAD Snap-Clad Standing Seam Metal Roofing was used as both roof and wall panels, which contributed to the LEED Platinum certification. See more information on the Matchbox House here.

PAC-CLAD finishes are available in 46 standard colours, including shining metallics and unique weathered-look finishes. We also offer 16 beautiful wood grain finishes that give the appearance of natural wood with the durability of metal, and 16 NEW ore finishes that emulate a variety of natural materials, but with the reliability of steel and aluminum. All finishes are Fluropon® 70% PVDF coatings made with Kynar 500® resin, and are backed with a 30-year warranty against chipping, chalking, peeling and fading.
